Services for Joan C. Hunt, 89, of Willoughby, will be at 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at the Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby. Order of Eastern Star Chapter #71 will begin services at 4 PM. The Rev. Dr. Hazel Partington of the Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church will officiate.
Mrs. Hunt passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Breckenridge Village, where she has been a resident for 12 years.
Born September 5, 1925 in Westfield, NY, to Lawrence and Marie Heider. She was a graduate of Westfield High and went to the Bryant and Stratton Business School.
She married Kenneth Hunt November 16, 1946 and they were together 56 years until his death in 2002.
She was a longtime member of Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Hunt was employed as an Administrative Assistant with the Willoughby Eastlake Board of Education. Her memberships included more than 50 years with several Eastern Star chapters including Friendship Chapter and Western Reserve Chapter #71, O.E.S. She was active in several Breckenridge groups including the Red Hats and Bible study. Mrs. Hunt was always an active participant in all her children’s activities including Scouting, PTA, Rainbow Girls and DeMolay Boys.
She has resided in Fairview Park, North Ridgeville, Cleveland, Willowick and Willoughby.
Joan was a most loving person to all who knew her. Her circle of friends had no limits. She shared a bit of her heart with all and was extremely proud of all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all their spouses.
Survivors are her children, Lawrence (Carolyn) Hunt of Mentor, James (Deborah) Hunt of Virginia Beach, VA, Catherine Kermavner of Willowick and son-in-law, William Mowery of Fort Pierce, FL. Her grandchildren are A. William (Marianne) Kermavner, Robert Kermavner, James (Susan) Hunt, Lisa (Anthony) Marinelli, Wendy Mowery, Melissa (Todd) West, Robin (Shawn) Schlesinger and Eric (Cheryl) Hunt, as well as 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, daughter Jayne Mowery and son-in-law A. Robert Kermavner.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 PM until the time of services at 4 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions should be to the Bob Kermavner Scholarship Foundation, 24751 Russell Ave., Euclid, OH 44123, or to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
