Joan L. Steudel

Memorial services for Joan L. (Lloyd) Steudel, 98, of Waite Hill, will be at 1 PM on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Old South Church, 9802 Chillicothe Road, Kirtland.

Mrs. Steudel passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her family .

Born July 24, 1918 in Lakewood, she has lived in Waite Hill for the past 71 years.

She was a member of Old South Church in Kirtland and an active volunteer in the community with the Kirtland Public Library, Salvation Army and American Red Cross. She also served many years as the presiding judge in Waite Hill for the Lake County Board of Elections.

Mrs. Steudel received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina and Bachelor of Science degree in Library Science, specializing in children’s literature, from the University of Akron. Her family and community were vitally important to her.

Survivors are children, Richard A. (Wanda) Steudel, Jr. and Margery S. Branche; grandchildren, Peter E. (Janine M.) Krivejko, Leslie E. Williamson, Jeffrey R. Branche, Jennifer K. Branche and Richard W. (Lauren A.) Steudel and great grandchildren, Zachary T. Williamson, Brendan M. Williamson, Carter A. Williamson, William A. Steudel and Nathan A. Steudel.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Richard A. Steudel, Sr. in November, 2010. Her parents, Austin A. and Florence (Pellet) Lloyd and brother, Austin P. “Bud” Lloyd are also deceased.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. Private family interment will be in Waite Hill Village Cemetery.
