John “Jack” Sherman Lago – Handyman, Master Craftsman, our Hero and Servant of God.
Jack went to be with the Lord and Carol, the love of his life, August 2, 2021.
Jack lived most of his life in Northeast and Central Ohio.
He was born in Willoughby and graduated from the former Willoughby Union High School. He then spent 4 years serving as a Machinist Mate in the United States Navy. Jack worked for Aqua America Ohio (formerly Ohio Water Service.) He prayed and told God, “I will do anything, even if it means digging ditches the rest of my life.” God gave him the job digging ditches. Jack became a manager with the water company and retired in 1992.
Jack loved working with his hands, and serving people. He loved life often saying, “Life is good, sometimes it is just gooder than others!”
Jack is survived by his son, Jack (Kathy) of Charleston, SC; son, Cliff (Kari) of Greenfield, OH; daughter, Jeannie (Ken) Lining of Box Elder, SD; sister, Shirley (Tom) of Willoughby, OH; brother, Chuck (Lorena) of Eastlake OH; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carol; parents, Jim and Lillian Lago; brother, Jim and sister, Helen.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. The family will receive friends from 9-11 AM on Friday, prior to the service. Final resting place will be in Mentor Cemetery.
