Mr. Johnny Hawkins, born May 4, 1933 in Montgomery, Alabama to Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Emma Hawkins. Johnny chose the love of his life, Doris M. (Barker) Hawkins and united in holy matrimony on March 9,1959. Sixty-six blessed years later, Johnny and Doris remain married and in love; there were no children born to their union but they cared for many.
Johnny worked for General Motors and Avis for over 60+ years of his life until retirement in the late 1990’s. Johnny was a soft spoken, quiet, well respected man in his family, community, church and places of employment. Johnny also served his country for two years in the United States Army. We salute you!
Johnny enjoyed a quiet long life together with his soul mate Doris as one and they celebrated love and togetherness on many levels. Together they enjoyed family, friends, church members and community. Johnny and Doris were members of New Home Missionary Baptist Church for many years under the leadership of Pastor D. Anthony Bohles. In 2016 they united with NuVision Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Rowe were they are still members.
Johnny Hawkins leaves behind to cherish in remembrance of his life: His loving wife Doris Hawkins, a host of nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, church family and friends. Special acknowledgement to his niece, Cynthia Davis, of Houston TX; nephew, Charles Woods of Dallas, TX; great niece, Toni Johnson, of Dallas, TX; god son, D. Anthony Bohles of Cleveland, OH and god-daughter, Monique Allen of Cleveland, OH.
Many loved ones preceding him in death now reunited in Heaven.
