Joseph Balazic

Joseph Balazic, 94, of Willowick, passed away on April 2, 2022.
Joseph was born on March 5, 1928 to Marija and Louis Balazic in Sveti Jurij, Slovenia. After WWII, Joseph relocated to England then to The United States.
Joseph was a Private in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland from 1952-1954. Joseph was awarded The National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Joseph met Hermina Otrokar in England on Saint Stephen’s Day. Joseph and Hermina were married on December 21, 1952 at St. Vitus Church in Cleveland. Joseph and Hermina raised five children, Anthony, Joseph, Marie , Emily, and Matthew.
Joseph was a devout Catholic Christian. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In the early 90s , Joseph retired and spent his time travelling and gardening.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Hermina; son, Joseph; and daughter-in-law, Gloria.
Joseph is survived by his children, Anthony, Marie, Emily (Michael), and Matthew; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In 2013, Joseph met Ava Szabo at St. Mary Magdalene Church. Ava added many wonderful memories to Joseph’s final years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Friday, May 13, 2022 at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine St., Willowick.
Family will receive friends 5-8 PM Thursday at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby.
Final resting place will be in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon Twp.
