Joseph M. Mazie, 83, of Mentor, passed away peacefully Monday, September 8, 2025. He was born February 5, 1942 in Cleveland.
Joe was a self -employed wallpaper hanger and painter for 50 years. He was one of the first graduates of Willoughby South High School in 1960. He later was inducted into the Eastlake North Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the 1960 GCC Championship Baseball Team.
Joe was a sports enthusiast. He played Legion ball, hard ball, softball, and Sr. softball. He was inducted into the Greater Cleveland Softball Hall of Fame as a pitcher. Joe enjoyed bowling and was a well-known golfer in the area. He was a founding member of Continental Ski Club and an avid skier. He was a longtime season ticket holder and loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians.
Joe was a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Sue (Cobbe) Mazie; siblings, Joan Mazie, Judith Ann (Butch) Schmidt, Mary Ann Mazie, and Martin (Debbie) Mazie. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph S. and Bertha (Brlan) Mazie and his brother, Billy Joe Mazie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Private burial will take place in Mentor Cemetery
