================================================================================================================
Judith Karen “Judy” (Lane) Komyati, born April 4, 1938, to Augusta V. (Rothenberg) Lane and Richard T. Lane, lived a long and joy-filled life grounded in family, faith, creativity, and community.
Judy grew up on Arcade Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio, and spent her happiest childhood summers at her family’s cottage in Vermilion—swimming at the beach, canoeing along the river, and forming the love of the outdoors that stayed with her throughout her life. She graduated from Collinwood High School, Class of 1956, and began her career as a secretary in Cleveland.
She married her high school sweetheart, William J. Komyati (deceased), and together they shared 64 devoted years. After starting their family, Judy embraced life as a homemaker. She poured her talent and energy into refinishing furniture, sewing, decorating, and floral arranging—always bringing beauty to the world around her.
A resident of Mentor for 57 years, Judy built deep roots in her community. She worked as an Avon representative and later as a realtor with Century 21 Launders. Creative at heart, she became an accomplished watercolor artist, earning numerous ribbons for her paintings. She taught watercolor classes and was an active member of the local artist association.
Judy lived life with enthusiasm. She loved roller skating, cross-country skiing, disco and polka dancing, and spending time at Mentor’s beaches and parks. Her faith in her Savior, Lord Jesus Christ, was central to her life, and she treasured her church, Community of the Holy Spirit, where she enjoyed Bible studies and fellowship. She was also a proud member of the Mentor Harbor Yachting Club, Grand River Yachting Club, Mentor Senior Center, and loved dancing at the Eagles and SNPJ Farms.
Above all, Judy was a devoted mother. She was always present for her children, offering love, guidance, and unwavering support.
Judy is survived by her children Michael M. (Deborah) Komyati and Laura L. (Robert) Stewart; her grandchildren Garrett M. Komyati, Jessica R. (Brian) Abrams, Dayna R. (Andrew) Hanson, Deanna K. (Denys) Mayles, Dedra D. (Dimitri) Papazoglou, Morgan M. Stewart, and Marshal I. Stewart; and her great-grandchildren Daisy, Wesley, and Casey Hansen.
She also leaves behind her siblings Suzanne L. (Jim) Kirchenbaur, Thomas R. (Linda) Lane, and Terance A. (Marilyn) Lane.
Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William, and her daughter, Denise M. Komyati.
Judy will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, strength, and the joy she brought to everyone blessed to know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who loved her.
