Judith M. Smith

Services for Judith Mary (Speidel) Smith, 82, of Mentor, will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Avenue, Mentor. The Rev. Kurt E. Landerholm will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends from 2-4, 6-8 PM on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

Mrs. Smith passed away on April 26, 2018.

Born November 2, 1935 in Cleveland, she was a longtime Willoughby resident before moving to Mentor in 2011.

She was a member of Mentor United Methodist Church and was an avid reader and member of two book clubs. Judy was interested in sewing, quilting, knitting, traveling, geography, cooking, gardening, solving puzzles and listening to music. Her most favorite activity was spending time with and spoiling her granddaughters.

Mrs. Smith was employed as a programmer in the methods engineering department at Lincoln Electric in Euclid, for more than 20 years.

Survivors are her husband of 62 years, Karl O. Smith; children, Bryan (Beth) Smith and Diane (John) Walsh; granddaughters, Melanie Smith, Aidan Walsh, Abigail Smith and Erin Walsh and brothers, James (Lynda) Speidel, Robert (Kimberly) Speidel and Dean (Ilona) Speidel. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Karl and Mary Susan (Zahler) Speidel.

Final resting place will be in Mentor Cemetery following the service on Wednesday.
