Katherine B. (Barnett) Fuller, 96, of Willoughby, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.
Born January 29, 1928 in Santa Ana, CA, she was raised in Shelbyville, KY and had lived in Willoughby Hills for many years, New Jersey for two years, returning to Willoughby on July 4, 1976.
She was a member of Willoughby United Methodist Church, where she served as the Church librarian for many years. She was also involved in the Methodist Federation for Social Action (MFSA), PFLAG, the Ohio Methodist Historical Society, the Church and Synagogue Library Association, the Burroughs Nature Club in Willoughby and served on the Board of the Indian Museum of Lake County.
Mrs. Fuller earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Library Science at the University of Kentucky. She was employed as a teacher and librarian in Kentucky, Ohio and was state superintendent of school libraries in Indiana, until she returned to Ohio to marry her husband, Carl. She later volunteered as the school librarian at the former Garfield Elementary School in Willoughby Hills.
Survivors are her children, Elizabeth Fuller, Clifford (Miriam) Fuller, Marjorie (Kayla) Fuller and Kathleen (Josh Medin) Fuller; grandchildren, Ellen, Christopher, Shoshana and Dakota and great-grandson, Demi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, in 1985. Her parents, Grider and Mary Elizabeth (Oglesby) Barnett and sisters, Sue Van Slyke and Judith Seelhorst are also deceased.
The family will plan a celebration of her life at a later date. Arrangements will be posted at www.davisbabcock.com once those plans are finalized.
Private family interment will be in Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to MFSA, PFLAG or your local library.
