Katherine G. Nelson, age 77, formerly of Eastlake, passed away quietly Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the home of her niece, Dawn Fenton, in Springboro, PA, where she had been residing due to a fall in Florida in 2020.
Katherine was born on May 19, 1946 in Cleveland, the daughter of the late Robert and Grace (Miller) Nelson.
Katherine loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping at many different campgrounds. She was a long-time resident camper of the Jellystone Campground and Resort in Aurora, where she worked helping run the putt putt course and the ceramic craft area, as well as camping at the Panther’s Walk RV Park in Naple, Florida. She also enjoyed painting ceramics, card games with her friends, and she was a huge fan of the Muppets and Kermit the Frog. She also enjoyed all the Disney characters. Katherine was very fond of her dogs. Since she never had children of her own, her nieces and nephews and dogs were her life. She loved them all. When Katherine was living in Eastlake, she was a member of Mentor United Methodist Church where she helped as a “Sunday Greeter.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert “Bud” Nelson, Jr. and her niece, Anna Nelson.
She is survived by her sister, Deborah (Bill) Knoch of Eastlake and her brother, William “Bill” (Debbie Waters Nelson) Nelson of Taccoa, Georgia and many nieces and nephews.
