Laura Jane Hulsman

Private family services have been held for Laura Jane “Meme” Hulsman, 96, a lifelong Willoughby resident.

Born October 17, 1921 in Willoughby, she passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby, surrounded by family and friends.

She was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Willoughby, enjoyed crocheting, traveling and socializing while sharing sweet treats. She left a special place in the hearts of all those she touched. She was truly the wind beneath our wings.

Survivors are her daughter, Larane Hulsman (friend, Jeff Winrod); grandchildren, Eddy Hulsman, Lori (Tim) Kirkpatrick, Sandi Doubrava, Soni Rodriguez and Matt Williams; son-in-law, Kid Williams; nephew, Jeff (Eileen) Wallace; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter on the way, several nieces and nephews and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward G. Hulsman in 1987; her son, Wallace “Wally” Hulsman in 1956 and daughter, Pat Williams in 2005. Her parents, Fred and Kitty (Abbott) Wallace and brothers, Jim, Jack and Fred Wallace, Jr. are also deceased.

Private family burial will be in Willoughby Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to a favorite charity.
