Laverne C. Mcgill

LaVerne C. McGill, 95, formerly of Mentor and Hudson, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025 at Concordia at Sumner in Copley, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph; parents, Edward and Rachel (Taggart) Pleischl and son, Darryl.

Surviving family include her son, Craig (Marsha), daughter-in-law, Karen, grandchildren, Bryan (Melanie), Todd (fiancé, Courtney), Collin (Brenna) and great grandchildren, Allyson, Brandon, Lincoln, Signe and Eden.

LaVerne retired from the Euclid Public Schools having worked with many administrators. After retirement, she worked at Lubrizol. In addition to work and caring for her family, LaVerne enjoyed sewing, quilting, dancing, gardening, tending to vegetables at her parents’ farm and cooking/baking.

She will be remembered for her chocolate rum pie. She and Ralph enjoyed volunteering at the Mentor Senior Center and were once named Mr. & Mrs. Senior of the Year. LaVerne was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Western Reserve Chapter #71.

Visitation will take place at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby on Friday, April 25 from 10 AM to 11:30. A short service will begin at 11:30 AM at the funeral home with interment at Acacia Memorial Park, (1880 SOM Center Road, Mayfield Heights) immediately following the service.
