Laverne K. Miozzi

Laverne K. Miozzi, 88, of Willoughby, went home to be with her Lord and Savior September 30, 2024, in her daughter’s home. Born in Cleveland on October 21, 1935, she was the beloved daughter of Elmer and Stephanie Novacek, and a devoted sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

A master homemaker, Laverne filled her life with love for others, raising four sons and a daughter with enduring commitment. Her kitchen was an extension of her heart, known for its delicious apple pies, apricot horns, homemade raviolis, and lasagnas. Her well stocked kitchen offered a freezer full of ice cream, cold Pepsi’s and candy jars filled with peppermint patties and gummy worms. Laverne could make any pan shine, floor sparkle and had a knack for mending holes and starching shirts. Her home was a model of tidiness, radiating warmth and care.

Laverne's nurturing spirit extended to all who crossed her path. No baby left her lap without a gentle bounce, and no neighborhood cat went unfed. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of her eye and oftentimes the source of her generosity. Most importantly, she cared deeply for the souls of those she loved. With her bible always open, she faithfully prayed for family, friends and strangers to turn from their sin and place their faith and trust in the finished work of the life and death of Jesus Christ. A faithful member of Grace Church of Mentor for 25 years, she worshiped and served with a heart inspired by the One who forever changed her life.

She is survived by her children, Steven (Betsy) Miozzi, Russell (Malinda) Miozzi, Sharon (Jeffery) Battig, David (Carolyn) Miozzi, Michael (Kimberly) Miozzi; grandmother to Amy Galon, Christopher (Alegra) Waseleski, Jeffery (Melissa) Miozzi, Nicole (Josh) Robertson, Stacey (Will) LeClerc, Jackelyn (Vinney) Galiardi, Elizabeth (Sean) Conroy, Joy (John) Shanto, Tiffany (Jason) Cartner, Ryan, Sarah, Jacob and Payton Miozzi, and great-grandmother to 16.

LaVerne’s homegoing celebration will be Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 6 PM at Grace Church of Mentor, 6883 Reynolds Rd, Mentor and graveside burial at Mentor Municipal Cemetery (Sec 34), 6881 Hopkins Road, Mentor on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 10 AM.

Laverne will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
