Leland “Lee” James Smerdel (69) of Euclid, Ohio passed away peacefully in his home on May 2, 2022. Lee was born on August 9, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio to Elizabeth (Rein) and was later adopted by his step-father Joseph Smerdel. He was a lifelong resident of Euclid. Lee wrote in his Bible: “I found Christ to be my personal Savior” on 11/5/1995. He is already enjoying his new residence.
He served his country in the Army before starting his career at Swagelok; where he retired from in 2017 after 38 years of employment. Lee enjoyed his retirement thoroughly: working on his cars, keeping his lawn pristine, computer games and computer programming, bowling, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Lorelei, nee Shaffer, his previous wife Sheri Bill (Smith), children Kellie (Nick Mavar), Lee (Jessica Fisher), Andy, Danny and Sam (Abigail), his grandson Solomon and his four bonus grandchildren Trey, Tyrus, Taylen and Alex, his sister Margaret (Tim, deceased) and his brothers Carl and Rick (Janet, deceased) and his brothers-in-law, Tim and Tyler, along with other in-laws he gained through Lorelei’s bonus family. His sister Nancy (Cliff) preceded him in death.
A service will be held at Erieside Church on the Boulevard, 221 E. 320th St, Willowick, Ohio on Saturday May 7, 2022 at 10 AM. The family requests that any donations be made to Skyview Ranch in Millersburg, Ohio or to a charity of your choice that directly provides hope and encouragement to those who are walking a cancer journey.
