Services for Lillian Patricia (Cunningham) Blakesmith, 96, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Monday, August 31, 2026 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Blakesmith passed away Thursday, August 27, 2026.
Born November 21, 1929 in Mount Clare, WV, she has lived in Mentor-on-the-Lake since 1969.
She was a graduate of Lost Creek High School in Harrison County, WV, class of 1947 and Lakeland Community College in 1973 as a Registered Nurse and then worked at the former Mount Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland for 20 years.
Mrs. Blakesmith was an active member of Mentor Plains United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she served as a trustee, member of the choir, the United Methodist Women and the knitting group. She enjoyed spending time with her family, music, reading, sewing, knitting, crochet, needlework and quilting.
Survivors are her sons, Robert L. (Patricia) Blakesmith of Mentor; Michael E. (Donna) Blakesmith of Lakewood and Gregory Scott (Beth) Blakesmith of Madison and daughter, Mary L. (James) Bryner of Mentor; grandchildren, Tammy, Tracy, Trisha, Justin, Jennifer, Derek, Jared, Amanda, Mikala and Kylee; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob, Alexis, Daniel, Colin, Mia, Ava, Jayden and Declan and great-great-grandchildren, Alicia, Emily and Grayson. She also leaves her sisters, Norma Sine and Eva Shearer, and many nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack F. Blakesmith and her son, Donald L. Blakesmith. Her parents, William E. and Eva E. (Thompson) Cunningham and siblings, Shirley McNemar, William E. Cunningham, Jr., Annette James and Sandra McCullough are also deceased.
Final resting place will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.
