Memorial services for Lionel W. Mitchell, 71, of Wickliffe will be 4:00 PM Friday, September 20, 2013 at The First Presbyterian Church of Willoughby, 4785 Shankland Road, Willoughby.
Mr. Mitchell passed away, Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at his residence.
Born September 18, 1941 in Cleveland, he was a longtime Willoughby resident before moving to Wickliffe 13 years ago.
He was a United States Army Veteran, and a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Willoughby where he sang in the choir and served on the Session of the Ruling Elders. Active in community service, he was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2300 in Willoughby. He loved to spend time with his family and friends and perch fish year round.
Mr. Mitchell was a barber and owned The Lion’s Mane for 37 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Laurie (Doug) McLaughlin of Willoughby Hills; grandchildren, Mitchell, Riley and Douglas and sisters, Mickey Herman of Euclid and Gerry (Louie) Key of Wickliffe. He also leaves his former wife Georgeanne Mitchell of Chardon; many nieces and nephews and their families and his dog, Charlie the pug.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Sallie (Stewart) Mitchell and his siblings, Ruth Ammon, Evelyn Gunn, LaVon Huster, Joan Messer, Angie Brennan, Naoma Brennan, Herd Mitchell and Gerome Mitchell.
