Margaret J. Fawcett, 90, of Willoughby, passed away peacefully at her home on March 21, 2022. Born March 8, 1932 in Cleveland, she graduated from East High School. She married her sweetheart Gordon in 1951 and moved to Willowick in 1958 after he completed service in the U.S. Air Force. She devoted her life to caring for their home and four children.
Serving Jesus her Savior was important to Marge, as she did ministry for the last 40+ years at Erieside Church on the Boulevard. She helped by singing in the choir, as a deaconess, and in children’s ministries. She was a faithful support for Gordon as he taught Sunday School for many years. She had a gift for encouragement, especially in sending cards.
She dearly loved her eight brothers and sisters, and the family gathered for monthly bowling in the winter and picnics in the summer.
Marge loved to crochet and especially enjoyed making afghans and blankets for family and friends. She was a cat fan, and her home was never without one. She collected cat statues, thanks to frequent contributions from friends and family. She thoroughly enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, and reading mystery novels. Camping and fishing with the family were a summer pastime in early days, and yearly trips to Niagara-on-the-Lake and its dinner theaters were favorite vacations as she and Gordon grew older. They made Willowick Senior Center get-togethers a priority and had many friends in that community. They loved delivering food together for Meals on Wheels for 12 years.
Survivors are her children, Judith (Douglas) Ritley, Lisa (Larry) Heacox and Linda (Steve) Valentine; grandchildren Benjamin and Noah Heacox, Arielle, Caleb (Janie), Luke (Emily), and Rosalie Valentine, Alexandra (Chad) Brown, Miriam (Christopher) Lattimer, and Loretta Fawcette; great-grandchildren Carter, Aubrey, and Cooper Brown, Marnie Valentine, and Liza Belle Lattimer; and brother Bob Janezic.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon and son Faron.
The family will receive family and friends at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue in Willoughby on Sunday, March 27, from 1-4 p.m. Funeral service will be at Erieside Church on the Boulevard, 221 East 320th Street in Willowick on Monday, March 28, at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in Knollwood Cemetery, Mayfield Heights.
