Marilyn Daniels

Graveside services and interment for Marilyn Snell Daniels, 87, of Mentor, will be at 11 AM Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Mentor Cemetery, 6881 Hopkins Road, Mentor in Section 26. Mrs. Daniels passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Hospice House in Cleveland, after a brief illness. Born June 17, 1925 in Painesville, she was a lifelong Mentor resident. She was a graduate of Mentor High School, class of 1943 and Kent State University, class of 1946. A lifelong member of Mentor United Methodist Church, she was also a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary, President Emeritus of the Lake County Historical Society, and a former executive board member of the American Historical Print Collectors Society. Mrs. Daniels was the first woman in Lake County to be selected as a Grand Jury Foreperson. She was a founding member of the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the Imperial Owners Club and the Old Mentor Foundation, where she was instrumental in the historical preservation of Mentor's Old Council Hall on Jackson Street and also served as a past officer of the Kidney Foundation of Lake County and she also sold real estate for many years. She is survived by her children, Mitchell D. Daniels of Perry; Nancy Daniels (Joe Abdolmaleki) of Alexandria, VA and Ted Daniels (Paige Retus) of Boston, MA; three grandchildren and her sister, Barbara Snell Davis of Mentor and many nieces and nephews and their families. Her husband of 56 years, Lyle F. "Pepsi" Daniels, Jr., passed in September 2006. Her parents, Roy A. and Mabelle (Denning) Snell are also deceased. There will be no calling hours. The Rev. Kurt E. Landerholm of Mentor United Methodist Church will officiate at the service. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions in Marilyn's name to the Kidney Foundation of Lake County, P.O.
