Martha J. Ellsworth

Memorial services for Martha J. “Marty” (Douglas) Ellsworth, 94, of Willoughby, will be at 11 AM on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Avenue, Mentor.

The family will receive friends at a reception following the service at the Church.

Mrs. Ellsworth passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025.

Born June 18, 1931 in Conneaut, she had lived in Mentor for 57 years, before moving to Breckenridge Village in Willoughby.

She was a member of Mentor United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, where she served on the scholarship committee and volunteered in the office for 20 years. She was a longtime member of the Grand River Yacht Club and the former Mentor Women’s Club.

Mrs. Ellsworth was employed as a teacher at Madison Middle School, retiring in 1993.

Survivors are her daughters, Melinda Ellsworth Queen of Sanford, FL and Ellen Ellsworth (James) Santee of Mentor; grandchildren, Terrance J. Queen, Kristina Queen, Erin Santee (Mark) Reilly and Scott Santee and great grandchildren, Elise and Thomas Reilly and Tanner Queen.

Marty was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Hugh T. “Terry” Ellsworth on October 5, 2014 and her son, Douglas Colver Ellsworth in 1971. Her parents, Frank and Gertrude (Lillie) Douglas are also deceased.

Final resting place will be in Mentor Cemetery.
