Mary M. Blanc (October 14, 1932 – January 31, 2025)

Memorial services for Mary (McAlpine) Blanc, 92, of Willoughby, will be from 12:00 PM – 2:30 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

Mrs. Blanc passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025.

Mary was born in Lonaconing, Maryland and had fond childhood memories with her siblings that included ice skating, picking berries and riding handcars on the train tracks, amongst other things. Mary moved to the Cleveland area as a young adult where she held numerous jobs in multiple fields. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters and their families as they grew. Mary looked forward to regular trips to Maryland to visit with extended family and her dear lifelong friend Frances.

Her hobbies included painting, gardening, as well as baking. She was also an avid reader, especially of mystery novels. She loved a good game of rummy, where she had unmatched skills, and somehow always seemed to win.

Survivors are her daughters, Annette (Jim, deceased) Berzinskas, Betty (Chad) Ruben and Dr. Kathleen Blanc (Karl Opatrny), grandchildren, Alyssa, Juliana, Annie and Kyle, and her sister, Carolyn Stafford. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Richard, on September 5, 2012, her parents Alexander and Anna (Hausrath) McAlpine, siblings George, Elizabeth “Lib,” James “Jim,” Annabelle, Edward, Charles “Bud” and Alex “Cue.”

Private family interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
