Services for Mary C. Dolph, 77, will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 11 AM at Willoughby United Methodist Church, 15 Public Square, Willoughby.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

Mary passed away peacefully at her home on August 7, 2026 surrounded by family.

Born December 29, 1948 in Amsterdam, New York, she has lived in Lake County, Ohio for the past 56 years.

She met her husband, Charles D. (“Chuck”) Dolph, in the summer of 1967 when they worked together at the Hotel Marcy in Lake Placid, New York after their Freshman year of college. Following graduation, they married on June 20, 1970 and moved to northeast Ohio.

Mary began her career as a teacher at St. Clair Elementary School in Painesville and then directed and taught at the Willoughby United Methodist Church (WUMC) Preschool for many years. She later earned a master’s degree in School Psychology from John Carroll University and practiced in Mentor Schools.

A music lover, she played in the bell choir at WUMC and studied the hammered dulcimer. She was an avid gardener and became a certified Master Gardener through the OSU Extension, which also led her to volunteer with the Lake County Juvenile Detention Center Garden Program. In addition to music and gardening, Mary also enjoyed reading, cooking, visits to her and Chuck’s second home in Ellicottville, NY, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Chuck Dolph; daughters, Laura Kinsey Dolph and Allison D. (Jason) Gray and son, Charles R. Dolph; grandsons, Nathan and Andrew Gray; and siblings Robert Conyne, Julie King, and John Conyne.
