Matthew John Dolence

Funeral service for Matthew J. Dolence, 88, of Willoughby Hills will be 11 AM Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave. Willoughby.

The family will receive friends 9-11 AM Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Dolence passed away January 27, 2017 in Mayfield Heights.

He was born February 24, 1928 in Martins Ferry, OH.

Matthew worked as a carpenter in Northeast Ohio since 1952.

He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. He was an assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop 185 in Willoughby; a member of the Willoughby Lodge 302 Free & Accepted Msons and Willoughby Hills United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed spending time in his workshop, feeding the birds, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Rita J. Dolence of 62 years; children, Greg (Mary) Dolence and Debbie (Bob) Unger; grandchildren, Matthew and Brian Dolence and Jessica and Hanna Unger; brother, Thomas Dolence. He also leaves behind his canine friend, Minnie.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Yohana Dolence.

Entombment will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Twp.
