Michael J. Weist

A celebration of the life of Michael J. Weist, 54, of Euclid, will be held at 6 PM on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

The family will receive friends from 2-6 PM on Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Michael passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at his home.

Born January 14, 1962 in Cleveland, he lived in Timberlake before moving to Euclid.

Mr. Weist started his career as an orderly before becoming a Registered Nurse at University Hospitals Richmond Medical Center in Richmond Heights and also at the main campus in University Circle.

Michael helped start the Coumadin Clinic for the hospital system, a new innovative method at that time for patients to get bloodwork checked. This was eventually used as the starting basis for other hospitals and private practices as well. Caring for the same patients on a consistent basis, Mr. Weist made lasting impressions on both his patients and colleagues alike. It was not unlike him to talk to patients outside of work, showing just how much they truly meant to him.

Michael loved entertaining guests in the home by cooking lavish dinners, which showed just how special his friends and family really meant to him. He made forever friendships, impacting the lives of so many he cared for. Michael had a jovial personality and loved to laugh, while making others laugh as well.

He was an avid storyteller, even if someone heard it a thousand times, he would definitely tell it once more. He had a big heart that that he shared with everyone he met and one that drew people in. Michael will be missed by all that were blessed to meet him.

Survivors are his children, Noel (Nick) Spang and Ethan (fiancée, Alyssa) Weist; sister, Valerie (Scott) Parcell and partner, Bryon McElroy.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Zachary; his parents, Michael and Ida (Lacey) Weist; brother, Joseph Weist and grandparents, Joseph and Eunice Lacey.

Private family interment will take place in January.
