Services for Myoung Soon Chong, 86, will be at 11 AM on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Mentor Baptist Church, 7500 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Mentor. The Rev. Brian Landrum will officiate at the service.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 - 11 AM at the Church.
Myoung passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, April 17, 2023.
Born June 10, 1936, in Seoul, South Korea to Won-Suh and Ock-Soon [Min] Huh,
she immigrated to the United States with her husband and five daughters in 1972. She lived in Chardon for 40 years before moving to Mentor six years ago to live with her daughter, Sook.
From a young age Myoung showed great talent, both artistically and academically. She was a great cook and excellent seamstress, and used to make clothes for her daughters from pictures in the Sears catalog.
She retired from Chardon Rubber Company at age 62 and enjoyed a long retirement. In her later years she enjoyed watching Korean programs and giving out candy to her great grandchildren.
Myoung is survived by her daughters, Young Sook (Wayne) Clough of Madison, Sook (Douglas) Reid of Mentor, Hyun Chong of Willoughby, Ran Sook (Gunther) Evanina of Grand Rapids MI, and Im Sook (Bob) Reinhart of Sewickley PA; grandchildren, Sean Clough, Stephanie [Clough] Shipman, Wolfgang Clough, Sydney Clough, Doug Reid, Jr. and Emily [Reid] Zath and ten great grandchildren.
Myoung was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Pyong (John) Kun Chong, and her brother Yong Soon Huh.
Private family interment will be in Chardon Municipal Cemetery.
