Nancy E. Bittner (nee: Steinbrick), 86, of Mentor passed away on January 12, 2021. She was born in Cleveland on June 29, 1934 and leaves behind two daughters, Sally (Bob) Rynazewski of Hayward, CA and Teri Bittner of Painesville, as well as two granddaughters, Sara & Rachel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Thelma Steinbrick, a brother, Carl Leroy Steinbrick, and her loving husband of 64 years, Donald M. Bittner.
In her youth and throughout adulthood, she was very active in sports including roller and ice skating, softball, and bowling. She was a charter member of TOPS OH #634 in Mentor for almost 50 years, often holding officer positions and made many cherished friends during this time.
She grew up in the Rockport/Kamm’s Corner area of West Cleveland and worked in her father’s greenhouse business, before marrying and moving in 1958 to raise her family in Mentor.
Nancy graduated from John Marshall High School in 1952 and made life-long friends, as a member of the Starlighters Girls Club, whose remaining members will miss her greatly. She was blessed to be a 22-year survivor of breast cancer and enjoyed participating in her support group activities.
Don and Nancy enjoyed many years of RV camping and travel as members of the Good Sam’s and Wickliffe Camping Clubs.
Nancy enjoyed learning new crafts and often made gifts for her friends and family. She learned to use a computer late in life, and thoroughly enjoyed staying socially engaged using Facebook and e-mail. The personalized greeting cards she created on her computer and sent for all occasions were treasured signs of her generous nature.
Due to COVID and the cold weather, plans for services and burial will be delayed until a later time.
