Patricia A. Sorber

Patricia A. (Hughes) Sorber, 82, of Painesville Township, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2024 surrounded by her family.

The family will receive friends to remember and celebrate Pat’s life from 4-8 PM on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

Born May 23, 1941 in Belpre, OH, she has lived in Lake County for most of the past 82 years, except for four years in Michigan in the 1970s, and more recently 16 years in Florida, before returning to Lake County in 2022.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Willoughby, since her childhood, and also enjoyed services at Painesville United Methodist Church. She and her husband, Jerry, were members of Fairport Harbor Yacht Club for many years, and were current members of the Fairport Harbor and Mentor Senior Centers, where they enjoyed fine friends and activities. Pat’s joy came from her family, and she was a fiercely devoted wife, mother, grandma, and friend. She attended activities, special events, and sporting events for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She and Jerry have many friends, and they enjoyed playing cards, cruises, and traveling.

Pat was employed as a manager of human resources for Integrated Technologies in Mentor, Concorde Castings, was a librarian in the Children’s section of Morely Library, and was a beautician at Yolanda’s Beauty Shop in Mentor for more than 30 years.

Survivors are her husband of 62 years, Jerry; daughter, Debbie (Will) Rosch and son, Chip (Chrissy) Sorber; grandchildren, Amy Lease Rose (Joe Knotts), Heather Lease (Tom Babos), Kristen Lease (Vincent Kuertz), Tate (Kait Carl) Sorber, Leah Sorber and Sydney Sorber and great-grandchildren, Grace Lease, Carly Rose, Colton Rose and Faith Knotts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marion (Vaught) Hughes; beloved grandmother Edith Hibbard, her infant twin sons, Timothy and Thomas and her brother, Ronald Hughes.

The family will hold a memorial service to honor Pat’s life at Christ Lutheran Church in Willoughby, where Pat’s family were charter members, on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 10 AM. The family will receive friends at the Church beginning at 9 AM. The Church is located at 5555 SOM Center Road, Willoughby, OH 44094, between State Route 84 and U.S. Route 20.

Final resting place will be in Willoughby Memorial Gardens, 38650 Lakeshore Blvd., Willoughby, OH, 44094.
