R. Jon Yagoda

Services for R. Jon Yagoda, 85, of Mentor, will be at 2 PM on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Avenue, Mentor. The Rev. Sondra D. Snode will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby and from 1-2 PM on Friday, prior to the service at the Church.

Mr. Yagoda passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023 at his home.

Born January 6, 1938 in Old Forge, PA, he has lived in Mentor for the past 33 years, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA and Jackson Heights, NY.

He was an active member of Mentor United Methodist Church in Mentor, Community United Methodist Church in Jackson Heights, NY, First United Methodist Church in Taylor, PA and Mhoontown United Methodist Church in Cherokee, AL. He was very active in local organizations in the communities where he lived.

Mr. Yagoda was employed at the former Caterpillar, Inc. in Mentor before his retirement.

Survivors are his son, Paul Yagoda and daughter, Marijo Van Wert; grandchildren, Eric (Abby), Alyssa (Justin) and Hayli; great-grandchildren, Reagan and Madison. He also leaves his dear friend, Valencia Collins and her family.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Aquilla, on February 17, 2018. His parents, Rudolph and Sophia (Cott) Yagoda; brother, Francis and sister, Evelyn are also deceased.

Private family burial will be in Smith Cemetery in Cherokee, AL.
