Ray Christopherson

A memorial service for Ray Dean Christopherson, age 84, of Concord Township, will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 1:30 P.M. at Davis -Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby. The family will receive friends following the service at the Kennedy House across the street. Ray went to dwell in the House of the Lord on February 15, 2012, at Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota, FL. He was a winter resident of Venice, FL, since 1999. Born in Alpena, MI, on April 28, 1927, he was the sixth child born to Eva (Turner) and Arthur Christopherson. After graduating from Alpena High School and serving two years in the Army, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business from Kent State. University. Later he earned a degree in banking from the University Of Wisconsin School Of Finance. He retired from Bank One in 1991 after 40 years in banking, having been employed at National City Bank of Cleveland and Lake County National Bank in Painesville. He was vice-president of audit operations at Bank One and belonged to BAI, a national professional organization for bank administrators. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge 549 in Painesville. Ray married Janice Jean Flickinger on July 21, 1951, in Dorset, OH, and celebrated 60 years of marriage this past summer. They resided in Lake County all their married life and in Concord Township for 44 years. His interest in the controlled development of Concord Township brought him to serve on the Zoning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals. His hobbies were genealogy, woodworking, and gardening. He greatly enjoyed traveling with his wife throughout the USA, Canada, Europe, Caribbean, New Zealand, and Australia. Survivors are his loving wife Janice and his children Amy Matanowitsch (Walter) of Willoughby, Alan (Kelley) Christopherson of Leroy Township, Ann Remlinger (Thomas) of Fishers, IN, and Alisa (David) Novak of Painesville, grandchildren Matthew (Teresa), Michael and Mark Christopherson, Rachel and Morgan Remlinger, Zachary Novak, and great-grandson, Brayden Matthew Christopherson, sister-in-law, Phyllis Christopherson and 15 nephews and nieces and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Fern (George) Mason, Margaret (Barney) Smith, infant sister Alice, and brothers Arthur, Frederick, and Irving (Virginia), The family suggests gifts in Ray's memory be directed to The Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
