Riccardo F. Mastrocola

Mass of Christian Burial for Riccardo F. “Rick” Mastrocola, D.V.M., 65, of Willoughby Hills, will be at 10 AM on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6850 Mayfield Road, Gates Mills.

Dr. Mastrocola passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Born July 30, 1960 in Canton, he has lived in Willoughby Hills for the past 22 years.

He was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. He graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Louisville, Ohio, class of 1978 and continued his education at Walsh College in Canton, graduating in 1982 with his Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences and then attended The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating on June 13, 1986, with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. While attending Ohio State, he was on the national Dean’s list in 1984 -1985. He was also a member of the Cleveland Academy of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Mastrocola started his career with Dr. Roy Buss at Tyler Animal Clinic in Mentor and assumed ownership after Dr. Buss’ retirement. They remained friends for years.

Survivors are his wife of 24 years, Ann (Vormelker); brothers, Angelo and Mark (Jennifer) Mastrocola; sister-in-law, Kelly Mastrocola and nieces and nephews, Rose, Sarah, Adrian, Stephen, Aaron, Veloie, Jordan, Alex, Dominic, Benjamin, Chiara, Vincent and Gabriel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Assunta (Santopadre) Mastrocola and his brother, Perry Mastrocola.

Final resting place will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township following the Mass on Thursday.
