Richard “Rick” J. Buckley, Sr., 76, of Painesville, OH., passed away Saturday December 12, 2020 at UH Geauga Medical Center.

Born August 30, 1944 in Conneaut, OH. He was a resident of Lake County, OH. For 46 years and a “snow bird” in Fort Myers, FL. for 10 years.

Mr. Buckley was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Painesville, OH. as well as a former member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Mentor, OH. He was also a longtime member of the Lake County YMCA, the Benevolent Protective Order of Elk Lodge 549 in Painesville, OH., The Loyal order of the Moose in Fort Myers, FL., The Perry Senior Center and former Cubmaster and Scout Master with both Pack and Troop 306 in Mentor, OH. He was an avid sailor and a longtime member of the Shenango Valley Boating Club.

Mr. Buckley was employed as a tool designer/engineer at Lincoln Electric in Euclid, OH. He retired after 36 years of service. He was also an adult education instructor for welding and mathematics at the Auburn Career Center in Concord Township for 10 years.

Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Margaret “Peg” (Whysong) Buckley; sons, Richard J. (Heather) Buckley, Jr., Kenneth M. (April) Buckley and Daniel A. Buckley. Grandchildren, Nicholas, Adam, Sarah, Joshua, Matthew and Lilah Buckley; great-grandchildren, Emma Manypenny Buckley and Leo Buckley and sister Kathy Lantz. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Martha (Fill) Buckley and his brother Jack Buckley.

Details of services and interment of cremains at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Painesville, OH. will be announced at a later date, when covid-19 restrictions are lessened.
