Richard Browning Clark, 84, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2022 in Newbury, Ohio. Richard was born on June 24, 1938 and raised in the Cleveland, Ohio area. He graduated from Euclid High School and served two years with the Ohio Army National Guard. After working at divisions of Dow Chemical and General Motors during the 1960s, Richard spent three decades at CSX (beginning with predecessor company Conrail) where he was a locomotive engineer and trained many young engineers. He retired in 2001.
Richard, who was also known as RB and Dick, was a lifelong railroading aficionado, hobbyist and collector. A 50-year charter member of Lake Shore Live Steamers, he helped lead, design, build and operate the Penitentiary Glen Reservation Railroad at Lake Metroparks in Kirtland, Ohio. Richard was also a past member of the Brotherhood of Live Steamers, New York Central System Historical Society, Nickel Plate Road Historical & Technical Society, Colorado Railroad Historical Foundation, Conrail-Amtrak Veterans Lake Shore Pioneer Chapter, National Model Railroad Association, and Associated Railroads of America.
Richard is survived by his children Samantha Werstler (David) of Strongsville, Ohio, Roger Clark (Sarah Derico) of Bergen County, New Jersey, Brigitte Fiorille (Michael) of Newbury, Ohio, and Heather Clark of Baltimore, Maryland, grandchildren Tabitha, Gabriel, Christopher, Carmen, Cole, Mae, and Savina, great grandchildren Elliott, Aubree, and Elenora, brother Mark Clark, and sister Barbara Weisbarth (Don). Richard was preceded in death by his father Richard E. Clark, mother Eleanore (Haralson) Clark, and life partner Edith Hacker.
