Richard A. Cole

Services for Richard A. Cole, 72, of Kirtland, will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the funeral home.

Mr. Cole passed away Friday, September 16, 2022 at The Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Born August 29, 1950 in Cleveland, he was a lifelong Kirtland resident.

He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Kirtland High School, class of 1968 and remained active in the high school booster’s organization, working the BINGO games every Saturday. He also loved the Cleveland Guardians, sports in general and was an avid sports card collector.

Mr. Cole was employed as a beer and wine salesman for the former Gil Schwartz Distributors in Painesville, now a part of Superior Beverage Group.

Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Janet (Kessinger) Cole; children, Lara (HalHenry) Walker, Timothy (Joann) Cole, Jennifer (Michael) Reed and Melinda (Keith) Wilk; grandchildren, Todd Yager, Richard (Tori) Cole, II, Michael (Shelby) Reed, Jr., Matthew Reed, Morgan Reed, Katelyn Cole, Savanna Godfrey, Connor Godfrey and Sierra Godfrey; sisters, Virginia (Phillip) Naples and Linda (Mark) Maltry; brother, Charles Cole, Jr. and half-brother, Scott Cole. He also leaves many extended family members, step-siblings, nieces and nephews, cousins and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Cole and Lena (Barber) Bissett.

Final resting place will be in South Kirtland Cemetery following the service on Wednesday.
