Richard A. Frischkorn Sr.

September 12, 1947 — May 20, 2025

Beloved father, grandfather, brother, friend, Richard A. Frischkorn, of Mentor, went home to his Lord and Savior May 20, 2025 after a decades-long battle with multiple sclerosis, which he fought with a determination to live and enjoy the days he was given. He also was a prostate cancer survivor.

Rich was a 1965 graduate of Eastlake North High School. A Vietnam-era veteran, Rich, served as an US Army Spec 4 canine handler-MP at Camp Holiday, South Korea.

He retired from the former TRW company as a machinist. That retirement gave Rich the opportunity to enjoy his favorite pastimes of fishing, hunting, shooting and camping with his son and daughter, and then with his best outdoors buddy, his grandson, Max Rokas.

Of particular pleasure for Rich was taking daily walks at Lake Metroparks’ Chagrin River Park where he always had as his companions one of his dachshunds, Riley and later, Louie. Louie even could be counted on to join Rich at the shooting range.

Rich was an avid member of the American Legion Post 214 and VFW Post 1500, both in Willoughby. Likewise, Rich was a long-standing member of the Crooked Creek Conservation Club.

Left behind with fond memories of their time with Rich are his daughter, Maggie Parks-Rokas (John Parks), grandson, Max Rokas - all of Parma Heights, and grandson, Nickolas Frischkorn and granddaughter, Nancie Frischkorn and their mother and Richie’s wife, Ceryneh Slade-Frischkorn, all of Yankton, SD; older brother, Terry Frischkorn of Lewistown, MT, younger brother, Jeff (Beverly) Frischkorn of Mentor-on-the-Lake; and younger sister, Robbi (Mike) Justice of Marana, AZ. He also leaves behind numerous nephews and nieces, and friends like his Number 2 walking buddy, Dave Setlock.

Rich was preceded in death by his son, Richie Frischkorn; parents, Bud and Marion Frischkorn; brother, Dave (Candi) Frischkorn.

Memorial service will be at 12 PM Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave. Family will receive friends from 10 AM- 12 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
