Richard R. Hambleton

Memorial services for Richard R. Hambleton, 98, of Willoughby Hills, will be at 3 PM on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Old South Church, 9802 Chillicothe Road, Kirtland. The Rev. Ian Lynch will officiate the service.

Mr. Hambleton passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 in Mentor.

Born May 1, 1920 in Cleveland, he has lived in Willoughby Hills for the past 65 years.

He was a member of Old South Church in Kirtland and was a United States Army veteran, serving in the 88th Glider Infantry during World War II. Mr. Hambleton loved his family and his horses. Richard was a 20-year volunteer Red Coat at Playhouse Square in Cleveland.

After retirement, he was a devoted volunteer, as a longtime member of the Lake MetroParks Posse (1989) and at the Penitentiary Glen Rehab Center in Kirtland.

Dick spent many seasons at the Rolling Y Ranch in Carrollton, and enjoyed sharing that experience with his children and grandchildren. Since 1987, Dick found great joy with his work at Fieldstone Farms Therapeutic Riding Center in Chagrin Falls.

Mr. Hambleton was employed by the former Brush Beryllium Company and S.K. Wellman Company as an R & D engineer.

Survivors are his children, Linda (Mitch) Allen, Timothy Hambleton and Jeff (Lisa) Hambleton; grandchildren, Jessica (Jeff) Scott, Taylor (Phil) Bojc, Heather (Jason) Warner, Sam (Clinton) Jones, Brad Allen, Nick, Don, Jordyn, Devyn, Drake, Jack and Eiticitie Hambleton; nine great-grandchildren and brother Ken Hambleton.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Carol, on September 13, 2011. His sons, Rick and Todd Hambleton and parents, Clarence and Jessie Hambleton are also deceased.
