Robert Auer

Robert J. Auer, 88, formerly of Willoughby, passed away after a brief illness Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights. Born November 11, 1923 in Cleveland, he was a longtime Willoughby resident before moving to the McGregor Home in East Cleveland four years ago. He was a World War II United States Army veteran, a member of Willoughby United Methodist Church and a Mason. He was an avid golfer and member of Shaker Heights Country Club. Mr. Auer was a Certified Public Accountant until his retirement in 1988. Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Marilyn C. (Rice) Auer; children, Karen (Jon) Munson of Chagrin Falls, Judy (Gary) Welch of Newtown, PA and Robert (Vicki) Auer of Colorado; grandchildren, Todd, Heather, Sarah, Gary, Amy, Brigette, Charlie and Stella; five great grandchildren and sister, Shirley Zagorc of Tampa, FL. His parents, Peter and Lucille (Fenner) Auer are deceased. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
