A gathering to celebrate the life of Robert E. Baker, 75, of Willoughby, will be held from 4-8 PM on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.
Mr. Baker passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021.
Born December 2, 1945 in Cleveland Heights, he was a lifelong Northeast Ohio resident, having lived in the home he built in Willoughby since 1968.
His love of radio-controlled cars had him traveling all over Ohio and Indiana to race and his wife and kids would also go with him. His love of boating started at a young age with his parents and brothers where they owned boats. Later in life he bought his own boat to enjoy with his family and he would spend every weekend at Riverbend Marina where he kept it docked and made many friends throughout the years.
He was a man of few words but everyone knew him for his deep voice and huge smile and of course that red hair.
He will be missed by all who loved him. We take comfort in knowing he is with his loving wife now.
Mr. Baker was employed as a machinist at the former Bailey Controls in Wickliffe. He retired after more than 30 years of service.
Survivors are his children, Scott (Michele) Baker and Brenda (Randy) Lette; grandchildren, Alyssa and Kyle Baker; Paige, Kayla, Kurtis and Kenny Lette and his brother, Jack Baker.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Cheryl, on January 6, 2002. His parents, Warren and Mildred (Hansen) Baker and brother, Warren “Bud” Baker, Jr. are also deceased.
Final resting place will be in Knollwood Cemetery, Mayfield Heights.
