Robert E. Sandman

Private family memorial services will be held for Robert E. Sandman, 85, of Mentor.

Mr. Sandman passed away peacefully on Monday, March 15, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born August 13, 1935 in Cleveland, he was raised in Euclid where he graduated from Euclid High School, excelling in baseball. After he married in 1957, he moved to Willoughby and then to Mentor where he raised his three boys and resided for over 50 years.

Mr. Sandman loved camping in the Finger Lakes region in New York and Kiawah Island, S.C., fishing with the boys, nature and animals, old movies and music, antiquing, and woodworking, making a lot of beautiful furniture for his home.

He worked as a carpet mill representative for many years.

Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Nancy (Lewis) Sandman; sons, Mike (Coletta), Dan (Alicia), and Tim (Sam); grandchildren, Michael, Sara, Josh, and Andrew; several cats, and dog Gracie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Bessie (Balogh) Sandman and sister, Bunny Kuhn.

Private family burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
