Robert Swearingen

Memorial service for Robert K. Swearingen, 91, of Willoughby Hills, will be at 11 AM Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Saint Bartholomew Episcopal Church, 435 SOM Center Road, Mayfield Village, with The Rev. James G. Greer officiating. Mr. Swearingen passed away Friday, February 24, 2012 at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby, after a lengthy illness. Born February 10, 1921 in West Carrollton, he lived in Willoughby Hills since 1958. He was a member of Saint Bartholomew Episcopal Church and was previously an active member at Grace Episcopal Church in Willoughby, serving on the Vestry, call committees and assisting with maintenance of the parish. Mr. Swearingen began his engineering career at the former Wellman Corporation in Cleveland in 1948 and subsequently became chief engineer at the former Victor R. Browning Company in Willoughby for 18 years. He retired in 1988. He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey R. (Mari, nee: Taylor) Swearingen of Bucyrus, OH and Mark V. (Sandra, nee: Dale) Swearingen of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Jessica (Joey) Swearingen-Collins; Scott A. Driskill, Daniel Christian "Chris" Swearingen and Barbara Takara (Lee) Holt; great grandchildren, Ethan, Mira and Jackson and brothers, Glenn Swearingen of Willoughby Hills and William "Bill" (Dolores) Swearingen of Euclid. He also leaves his loving companion, Shirley Cerjan and her family. His wife, Mary Esther, passed away January 21, 1997. His parents, Harold S. and Esther Swearingen and sister-in-law, Cynthia Swearingen are also deceased. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to Saint Bartholomew Episcopal Church, 435 SOM Center Road, Mayfield Village, OH 44143.
