Roberta S. Mackey

Memorial services for Roberta S. (Scarsbrook) “Bobbie” Mackey, 89, of Willoughby, will be at 2 PM on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Grace Episcopal Church, 36200 Ridge Road, Willoughby.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church. The Rev. Rose Anne Lonsway, Rector of Grace Episcopal Church will officiate at the service.


Private family burial will be in Larned Cemetery, Chardon Township.


Mrs. Mackey passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Willoughby.


Born May 16, 1926 in Chardon Township she has lived in Willoughby for the past 67 years.


She was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church, where she served on the Church Vestry, Altar Guild and various women’s committees. She was a graduate of Kirtland High School and was also an alumni of the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University.


She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and Willoughby South Rebels football and marching band supporter. She was also famous for her hot-cross buns.


Mrs. Mackey was employed as a registered nurse at University Hospitals of Cleveland in the nursery.


Survivors are her children, Patricia Parsons of Davidson, NC; Lawrence (Terri) Mackey of Jackson Township, OH; Gregory (Valerie) Mackey of Willowick, OH; Jeffery Mackey of Willoughby, OH; Nancy (Dennis) Brothers of Willoughby, Jamie (Mickey) Mackey of Wichita, KS and Timothy (Michele) Mackey of Willoughby; grandchildren, Gregory Mackey, Rebecca Spike, Allison Mackey, Michele Wilson, Jason Brothers, Brittany Hardy, Patrick Mackey, Ryan Mackey, Katie Mackey, Asia Mackey and Shawn Mackey; great-grandchildren, Mila, London, Annabelle, Marshall, Grant and Abby.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Harry Mackey on June 25, 2002 and her granddaughter, Kelly Mackey on May 7, 2015. Her parents, Alfred G. and Mildred Janet (Eville) Scarsbrook and brothers, Donald and Arthur Scarsbrook are also deceased.


In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions in her memory to the Altar Guild Fund at Grace Episcopal Church.


Mrs. Mackey’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Brookdale Senior Living and Brookdale Hospice for their exceptional care for the past three years.
