Memorial services for Ronald E. “Ron” Fish, will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at The Lyons Chapel at the Nason Center of Ohio Living Breckenridge Village, 36859 Ridge Road, Willoughby.
Born July 10, 1928 in Binghamton, NY, he was a son of the late Harold G. and Mary A. (Davis) Fish, he has lived in Ohio since 1954.
Ron passed away November 5, 2021 at Fairmount Health Center in Willoughby.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Jamalee “Jamie” Fish; sons, James (Anne) Fish of St. Louis, MO and David (Janet) of Frederick, MD and daughter, Cynthia (David) Montgomery of Derwood, MD; grandchildren, Thomas (Joanne) Montgomery, Katherine (Mike) Montgomery, Amanda Lee; great-granddaughter, Gabriella Lee and sister, Rhoda Pokorak. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.
He was a United States Army veteran, serving at General Headquarters Tokyo, Army of Occupation, earning his Honorable discharge in 1947.
In 1951, he graduated from The Ohio State University School of Engineering where he was a member of Theta Tau professional fraternity. After his retirement, he returned to school at John Carroll University where he earned a Master of Arts degree in 1996.
Mr. Fish joined The General Electric Corporation Lighting Manufacturing Division where he held many positions, including foreman and plant manager. For the last 20 years of his career, he worked in the International Lighting Division, working with the foreign affiliates and visiting them regularly. He retired in 1991.
Ron was active in the United Methodist Church, much of the time at Willoughby United Methodist Church where he chaired many committees and helped create the columbarium where he will be entombed. He was also active in the community, serving during the formative years on the Board of Project Hope for the Homeless and on the Board at Breckenridge Village from 1996-2002.
He loved to take his family hiking, camping and canoeing. Later, he took up Nordic skiing, tennis, vegetable gardening and traveling with his wife, Jamie, both nationally and internationally.
