Ronald F. Toncar

Memorial service for Ronald F. Toncar, 89, of Mentor, will be at 4 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM on Thursday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Mr. Toncar passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Hospice House in Cleveland.

Born September 2, 1934 in Cleveland, he has lived in Mentor for the past 50 years.

He was a United States Army Veteran and enjoyed scuba diving, setting up at flea markets, travelling and working on cars, but most especially, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Toncar was employed as a mechanical engineer at the former Caterpillar plant in Mentor, retiring in 1989 after 30 years of service.

Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Sandra (Steinhoff); children, Craig (Gwen) Toncar and Kim (Mark) Courey; grandsons, Zachary (Reanna) Courey, Nathan (Erin) Courey, Scott and Sean Toncar and great-granddaughter, Sadie Rae Courey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Laddie and Vernet Toncar and his sister, Phyllis Toncar.
