Rose Clara Koryta Wolf passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, after several years of care at the Mount Saint Joseph Rehab Center in Euclid, Ohio. She was born on February 22, 1932, the daughter of Clarence Koryta and Viola Kundmueller Koryta.
Rose attended public schools, graduating from South High School, and went on to earn degrees in library science from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and from Western Reserve University. She began her library career with U.S. Army Special Services libraries in Japan and Germany, making extensive excursions into the sights and cultures of both countries.
Returning to America, Rose worked at public libraries in Cleveland Heights-University Heights, Cuyahoga County Public Libraries, and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo library among others. While working as head librarian for the Oberlin Public Library, she supervised its relocation from the Oberlin College campus to downtown Oberlin. In retirement, she avidly parsed her hobby of photography and compiled genealogies of her Koryta and Kundemueller families. In all she did, Rose applied her librarian’s passion for accuracy and thoroughness.
Burial services were private.
