Ruth F. Odell

Memorial services for Ruth Farley Odell, 93, of Mentor, will be at 2 PM on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Avenue, Mentor. The Rev. Beverly L. Wrobel will officiate at the service.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 PM at the Church, prior to the service on Thursday.

Mrs. Odell passed away June 18, 2016 at Governor’s Pointe in Mentor.

Born May 15, 1923 in Painesville, she was a lifelong Lake County resident.

She was a member of Mentor United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed her friendships throughout the years. She was a 58-year member of the former Mentor Woman’s Club and served as a volunteer at the former Lake East Hospital in Painesville for 45 years. She was a former member of the Mentor Harbor Yachting Club.

During the war years, Mrs. Odell was employed in a research laboratory at the former Diamond-Alkali Company.

Survivors are her daughter, Linda Odell (Douglas) Granger of Virginia Beach, VA and son, Gregory (Nancy) Odell of Westerville; grandchildren, Pamela Granger (Todd) Gordon, Stephanie Granger, Brent (Heather) Tarantino and Damon (Kelly) Tarantino and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert I. Odell on July 18, 2009. Her parents, Frederick K. and Amanda (Booth) Farley and sisters, Jean Murphy and Joyce Christie are also deceased.
