Shirley Ruth Hendry

A gathering of family and friends for Shirley Ruth (Sanford) Hendry, 88, of Mentor, will be from 12 Noon until 2 PM on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

Mrs. Hendry passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 at Englewood Community Hospital in Englewood, FL.

Born July 25, 1927 in Cleveland, she was a longtime Mentor resident.

Shirley loved collecting bottles and figurines, solving puzzles of all types, taking trips to casinos, and most of all, tending to her flowers and rock gardens. She had a green thumb and could make anything grow.

Mrs. Hendry started her working career at TAPCO, and then went on to have a very successful career in real estate.

Survivors are her daughters, Sue (Les) Whitten, Janet (Daryl) Ignat and Gayle Kalman, all of Mentor, and brother, Kenneth Sanford of Willoughby

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Elma (Smith) Sanford and siblings, Erl, Ida and Ray.
