Shirley M. Maurer

Services for Shirley Mae (Ritter) Maurer, 94, of Willowick, will be at 11 AM on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Maurer passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Salida Woods Assisted Living in Mentor.

Born September 16, 1927 in Cleveland, she had lived in Willowick for 65 years before moving to Salida
Woods.

She was a member of The First United Church of Christ in Eastlake and a past president of the Willowick Garden Club. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and was active with her late husband Robert in an organization called the Chosin Few.

Mrs. Maurer was employed as a secretary for the Willoughby-Eastlake Schools, retiring in 1995 after 30 years of service.

Survivors are her children, Lance J. Maurer and Joy R. (Phil) Van Almen; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Maurer; grandchildren, McKenna (Christian) Van Rafelghem and Mitchell Maurer, Bryan (fiancé, Carrie) and Kailey Maurer, Philip (Jen) Van Almen, Jr. and Vincent Van Almen; great-granddaughters, Victoria Van Almen and Lexi Maurer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 2009 and her son, Ronald in 2021. Her parents, Lofton John and Mabel Ruth (Brasch) Ritter and sister, Patty Ritter are also deceased.

Final resting place will be in Mentor Cemetery.
