Stephen P. Szampias

Memorial services for Stephen P. Szampias, 77, of Mentor, will be at 6:30 PM Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby.

Family will receive friends from 4:30- 6:30 PM Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Stephen passed away peacefully May 18, 2026 at his home, with his loving family surrounding him. He was born August 21, 1948 in Cleveland.

Stephen was a 1967 graduate of North High School. He was a proud U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran, serving for 6 years. He retired from Lincoln Electric in 2014, after 43 years.

Stephen loved being outside and gardening and most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jane D. (Aquila) Szampias; daughter, Christina (Don) Fellows; grandchildren, Ashley Blanco (Favian Bautista) and Aiden, Alex, and Anthony Fellows; great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Axel, and Alonzo; siblings, Carol Lasmanis, Cheryl (Buck) Crofoot, and Philip Szampias. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Szampias and grandson, Johnathan. His parents, Stephen J. and Mary J. (Kosztura) Szampias and brother, Jim Szampias are also deceased.

Final resting place will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
