Sylvia Olura May Evans

Services for Sylvia Olura May (nee: Jack) Evans, 90, of Willowick, will be at 10 AM on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.

Mrs. Evans passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013.

Born June 30, 1922 in Buckhannon, WV, she lived there and then in Cleveland before moving to Willowick in 1958.

She was the longest serving member of Maplegrove Alliance Church in Willoughby Hills. She loved spending time with her children and their families, and working in her yard.

Mrs. Evans was employed as an inspector at the Nela Park Division of General Electric in East Cleveland. She retired in 1985 after 30 years of service.

Survivors are her children, Linda (Doug) Hillstrom of Willowick; Larry (Chami) Evans of Darnestown, MD and Terry (Howard) Price of Madison; grandchildren, Mindi (Mark) Furrow, Wendi (Jerrod) Borkey, Breanne Hillstrom, Brendan Hillstrom, Kira Evans, Christopher (fiancé, Megan) Evans and Carly Smith; great grandchildren, Jerrod, Jr., Ian and Samuel Borkey; Riley and Jack Furrow and Kedrin Evans. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Evans in 1985, and her infant son, Harry L. Evans, Jr. in 1960. Her parents, Doy and Bertie (Taylor) Jack; brother, Lester Jack and sister, Mary Coffman are also deceased.

The family will receive friends from 2-4, 6-8 PM on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the funeral home. The Rev. Robert A. Gaston will officiate at the service. Final resting place will be in Whitehaven Memorial Park, Mayfield Village.
