Terry Ellsworth

Memorial services for Hugh T. “Terry” Ellsworth, 81, of Mentor, will at 11 AM on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Avenue, Mentor. The Rev. Kurt E. Landerholm will officiate at the service.

Mr. Ellsworth passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Hospice House in Cleveland, surrounded by his family.

Born November 8, 1932 in Port Huron, Michigan, he has lived in Mentor since 1963.

He was an active member of Mentor United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, and was instrumental in starting the Gifts, Endowment and Memorials Committee, serving on that and the Finance Committee for many years.

Enjoying all kinds of sports, Terry was inducted into the Port Huron Sports Hall of Fame for basketball, and scored two holes-in-one, fifty years apart. As an avid sailor, he sailed in many major Great Lakes races and as a power boater, he was a 44-year member and Past Commodore of Grand River Yacht Club.

Mr. Ellsworth was employed by General Electric Corporation, first as a union relations specialist and retiring as senior process engineer. He retired in 1993, after 37 years of service.

Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Martha Jane (Douglas) Ellsworth; daughters, Melinda Ellsworth Queen of Geneva, FL and Ellen Ellsworth (James) Santee of Mentor; grandchildren, Terrance J. Queen, Kristina Queen, Erin Santee (Mark) Reilly and Scott Santee and great grandchildren, Elise and Thomas Reilly.
He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Colver Ellsworth in 1971. His parents, Leo and Marjorie (Bonner) Ellsworth and sister, Karen Ellsworth Bay.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM on Friday, October 10, 2014, at the Church.
