Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas Clayton Cummings, 80, of Willoughby, will be 10 AM on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 37932 Euclid Avenue, Willoughby.
Mr. Cummings passed away Friday, September 11, 2015 at his daughter’s home in Willoughby.
Born March 8, 1935 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, he lived there and in Eastlake before moving to Willoughby in 1978.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, an avid antique collector for more than 50 years, antique car collector, and was also involved with Eastlake Boys’ Softball where he served as league president for many years. A musician, he enjoyed playing guitar, pedal steel and most recently bass guitar in a local band, the Golden Notes.
Mr. Cummings was employed as a maintenance foreman with the General Electric Corporation, for 37 years, retiring in 1991.
Survivors are his son, Thomas C. (Isabel) Cummings, Jr. of Chester Township and daughter, Susan P. (Scot) Shermer of Willoughby; step grandson, Tristan Sanchez and brother, Robert (Iris) Cummings of Altoona, PA. He also leaves behind many friends, nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jane M. Cummings on September 28, 2011. His parents, Clayton Alexander and Pauline Henrietta (Connelley) Cummings are also deceased.
The family will receive friends from 2-4, 6-8 PM Monday, September 14, 2015 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby. Final resting place will be in Willoughby Cemetery.
