Thomas Arthur Loomis

Thomas A. “Tom” Loomis was born on November 9, 1953 and died on September 10, 2026. Tom was born in Willoughby, Ohio to Dana and Julianne Loomis.

Tom graduated from Willoughby South High School in 1972 and was always present at our class reunions . . . a very proud “Rebel Alumnus”. He went to work at Provential Ceramics, a factory about a mile from home. Tom walked to and from work for a couple years until he bought a decommissioned mail Jeep. He put plow on it and plowed driveways before and after work. After 30 years, the factory closed, and Tom went to work swing shift at the General Electric plant. Upon retiring from General Electric, Tom began a life of volunteering for an endless list of organization such as Project Hope for Homeless, McKinley Outreach Center, Habitat for Humanity, Sub Zero Mission, Willoughby United Methodist Church Food Pantry, Willoughby United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School . . . wherever there was a need, Tom was there to lend a helping hand with physical labor and/or financial support. Tom also went on countess Mission Trips with Willoughby United Methodist Church.

Tom was a very quiet, private man. He kept a very small circle of close friends. His dependability and steady presence were a comfort to those who knew him best. Tom was always willing to lend a helping hand. He became a Webelos leader when his little brother was in Cub Scouts. Tom a huge fan of the Willoughby Denny’s restaurant meeting many people from various walks of life. At Denny’s restaurant, he became friendly with the local newspaper District Managers and began subbing as a newspaper carrier when needed.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents Dana and Julianne Loomis. He is survived by his sister, Sally, her husband George Viton, his brother Jonathan and wife Elizabeth, and his close friends Michael and Judy Miller who stood with him throughout his life. Tom also leaves his beloved circle of nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Monday, September 21, 2026 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave. Willoughby, OH. Tom’s funeral service will be on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Willoughby United Methodist Church, 15 Public Square, Willoughby, OH. Burial will be private.
